Home Style Nachos with salsa
I have to be honest that with crazy timings and work schedules, watching movie in a theatre has become increasingly difficult for me. Add to it having a spouse whose attention span for movies is 40 min, makes it even more challenging. The movie needs to have a gripping story or needs loads of humor else we are more or less seen excusing ourselves out of the theatre.
Equally challenging is the interval period...if we do last that long the big question is what to feed ourselves...munching bags of pop corns is not out scene....personally I dont mind caramelised popcorn or a samosa but then I also think there is lack of variety or innovation in that space. I must admit things are changing and I am not rightly placed to comment on this as I rarely go there,...but what I do manage to do is catch up on movies at home..
We have a collection of DVDs and a mini dolby setup rounded up with dim lighting and LED backlights thrown in our living room to recreate the magic. The best part is after 40 min you can switch the channel and catch up a classic on HBO
Since this is pre-planned- I get a little creative for those evenings with the snacks. Dinner is wiped out and replaced with plenty of snacks and shakes...
I will share the popular Nacho recipe which has homemade chips and goodness of vegetables in it..
BM - 53 - Theme - Movie time snacks
Ingredients
1 packet of Tortilla Chips ( I made them home and added dried herbs - parsley and oregano)
1 onion finely chopped
2 tomatoes finely chopped
2-3 tbsp pickled jalapenos
2-3 tbsp grated cheese (cheddar, mozarella)
2 tbsp sour cream
salt and black pepper to taste
Method
1) Assemble the chips on a heat proof dish
2) Sprinkle it with chopped vegetables , pickled jalapenos and plenty of cheese
3) Bake in a preheated oven at 200c for 10 min or until the cheese melts
4) Sprinkle with more cheese , salt and pepper and enjoy
