Aloo Achaar/ Nepali Aloo Achaar/ Potato Pickle
The Aloo achar is either served cooked or uncooked and it tastes good both times. This one is a simple dry dish good to be wrapped up in a roti or to be mashed with fresh rice.
Ingredients
5-6 medium sized potatoes boiled , peeled and cubed
2 tbsp white sesame seeds
1/2 tspn red chilli powder
1 tspn turmeric powder
1 tspn fennel powder
1 tspn fennel powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp oil
salt to taste
Method
1) Roast the sesame seeds until it gives a nutty flavor. Grind it to a coarse powder.
2) Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, fennel powder, lemon juice, salt and oil to this powder.
3) In a pan, add the cubed potatoes, and pour the sesame paste mixture, cook with some water if required until the masala coats the potatoes.
4) Garnish with fresh coriander and serve
