Haryanvi kale channe/ kale chane

I love the punjabi style kala chana recipe a lot so when my friend gave her haryanvi recipe , i grabbed it. It is slightly gravy like.

Ingredients
2 cups soaked black horsegram / kale channe
2 tspn red chilli powder
2 tspn coriander cumin powder
1 tspn rice powder
1 tspn turmeric powder
1 tspn black pepper powder
2 tspn dry mango powder / amchur powder
a pinch of black salt
salt to taste
Oil to cook
Method
1) Pressure cook the chana using 3 cups of water until is cooked, 2 to 3 whistles
2) In another pan, heat some oil.
3) Add the rice powder and saute it.
4) Remove the water from the chana and set aside. Add all the dry masalas and salt to the drained chana and mix it well
5) Add it to the pan and cook well
6) Now add water drained from the chana a spoon at a time until it is soaked up
7) This may not be soaked completely but will become thick due to the rice powder
Garnish and serve

I found the taste becomes a little bland due to the addition of rice powder and also the texture of the gravy becomes a little gelatin like. It goes well with a spicy pudina chutney on the side.
