Chocolate Mousse with strawberry and whipped cream in chocolate case
The name is so intimidating that you may feel it would take you ages to prepare. Well it may if you want to make large quantity as this is a piece of art more than a dish. The beauty of this dish is to serve it in small quantities considering that every bit of this is edible including the container.
Keeping in mind the season, I have used strawberry fruit but you are free to use other fruits of your choice to garnish as well as merge together in the flavors
The strangest part is that my little one is not fond of chocolate..yes he is a bit strange for his age. He carefully picked out the strawberries and whipped cream . Then he mixed the chocolate case with the melting mousse. After the big mess he quietly sneaked it back in to the refrigerator as if nothing happened. Well..it did disappoint until DH gobbled down all the remaining cases and appreciated the dessert after each bite.
Ingredients (4 quantities)
1/2 cup dark chocolate
1/2 cup milk chocolate
1 cup fresh cream
1/4 cup icing sugar
1/2 cup chopped strawberries
Method
1) Grease your moulds that you wish to use as containers for the mousse. I used silicon cup cake liners.
2) Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in microwave container.
3) Pour the melted chocolate in the moulds. Pour the excess liquid back in to the bowl out once you have all the sides covered.
4) Repeat this procedure for the remaining moulds. Refrigerate the moulds until they are set about 10 min.
5) Now add the milk chocolate and melt it along with the dark chocolate. Do not stir until it melts
6) In another clean bowl, add the whipped cream and icing sugar. Whip it on high speed for 7 to 8 minutes
7) Now remove 1/4 cup of whipped cream for topping and set aside. Pour in a piping bag.
8) Add the melted chocolate to the whipped cream and gently fold in.
9) Take the moulds out of the fridge and gently unmould them.
10) Fill the chocolate cases with mousse.
11) Top with whipped cream
12) Gently place the strawberry pieces. Refrigerate for 10 to 15 min .
