Sunny side up/ microwave poached eggs

Being a big fan of eggs and omelettes and yet it is ironic that I can't stand the smell of raw eggs. This is a combination of 2 facts, dad was a huge egg fan and mom always made egg based dishes such a way that they never smelled eggy. She had her own tried and tasted techniques like, using turmeric, ghee to camouflage the odour.

This also means that I could never gather courage to consume any thing that contains raw eggs. Almost! Tiramisu and mousses were consumed for the flavor by pushing them on the back of the tongue and gulping it as quickly as possible.

Alas, there was one dish that I was intrigued but thought it was not made for me. Sunny side up, the most popular breakfast especially when you are put on a high protein diet looks so pretty and inviting until you touch it with a fork. It turns into runny side down.

I tried poaching eggs in microwave and that's when it struck me that I could actually get around making sunny side up without making it runny.

Check out, does it not look pretty. This has worked with most kids

Ingredients (for 1 serving)
1 bread slice (brown/ white)
1 egg
salt to taste
black pepper/ cayenne pepper
1 tspn oil

Method
1) Take microwave safe dish, brush it with oil.
2) Take a bread slice, using a cookie cutter, make a hole in the centre of the bread.
3) Place the large piece of bread with the hole in the microwave dish.
4)Gently break the egg in the centre.
5) If the white oozes out from the side, it is ok, it can trimmed off later. Take care that the yolk is held well
6) Season with salt and pepper
7) Microwave on high powder for 50 sec to 1 min max.
Serve with cheese, bread, sun dried tomatoes

The yolk is well cooked like a soft boiled egg.

Unless you push me hard, I am not looking for eggless options :)

I cannot stomach sunnyside eggs. When I was in cooking school, they make you taste everything...and for me eggs must be well done. I had to do breathing exercises before just to eat it without gagging.

But for those that like runny eggs, really cool how you managed same thing in the microwave!

Yes, very pretty!

Growing up I ate a boiled egg every day and by the time I was in high school, I hated.. I preferred raw over cooked egg.. I gradually started eating cooked eggs but it is last thing I would prefer.
cant really comment on this...due to eggs...but surely a nice one for egggetarians:)
