Spiced Orange juice
I had tasted spiced (not spiked :) ) , version of mango juice once and was ever since hooked on to it for that day.
I tried recreating the taste many times to the point that I gave up drinking mango juice. Try ,try till u succeed said the spider on my wall and I started again this time with orange juice. I do not think I came close to what I had that day but what I found in the process blew my head.
This is very addictive mind you.
Ingredients
1 ltr Orange juice (the brand you like)
1/2 tspn cayenne pepper/ chilli powder/ dry red chilly crushed
1 inch cinnamon
a pinch of nutmeg (optional)
1 star anise
Method
1) In a sauce pan, add the juice along with the cinnamon and star anise. and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes.
2) Let the juice stand till the it comes at room temperature.
3)Discard the star anise. Store the juice in a bottle and refrigerate.
4) Just before serving mix the chilly powder and stir until it is dissolved.
5) Add a pinch of nutmeg and serve with ice cubes and fresh mint.
When Kalyani kicked off the magic mingle, I knew this is what I wanted to share as I have been hooked onto this for almost couple of months now.
