Oats Dosa

For Radhika's bloghop wednesday's I was lucky to be paired with Rajani from mykitchentrials. I love her body of work and honestly it is more of her interesting writeup than the recipe that hooks me at her space.
I connect with her sense of humor so easily and absolutely cant help smiling while I am reading it.

Before you think that's all about her blog, let me tell you that she is a damn good cook having some amazing recipes on her blog. She is just like me, I believe, simply goes with the flow, uses things from the kitchen, experimenting and hunting for a new recipe when she ventures out.

I tried her Oats dosa. Although I have made the oats dosa many times, her recipe intrigued me for the fact that she used some unusual ingredients , like wheat flour or french beans in it.
I made some modifications (because I have a genetic malfunction that does not allow me to follow instructions as asked) to suit my mood and my kitchen needs.
I had some french beans thoran in my fridge from lunch that I had to use up before dinner. So I made this dosa using it for snack time.

The result was mind blowing.

You can follow the original recipe here or use mine which is slightly tweaked below.

Ingredients
1 cup Oats (Rolled oats, slight roasted and powdered) - lazy me, simply roasted
1/2 cup Wheat flour
1/4 cup Semolina roasted
1/2 cup french beans thoran/ french beans chopped finely
1 small onion finely chopped
2-3 green chillies finely chopped(optional in case you are using thoran)
1 inch ginger grated(optional in case you are using thoran)
1 medium tomato finely chopped
1 tbsp soaked Split black lentil (optional in case you are using thoran)
Salt to taste
Oil to cook
Method
1) Except oil, mix all ingredients in a bowl and add about 3 cups of water to make a smooth batter
2) On a hot griddle, pour some oil (use non stick otherwise)
3) Pour the batter and spread it evenly.
4)Let it roast for about 3-4 min on one side and then flip over.
5)Increase the flame to high and let it cook for another 2 -3 minutes.
6)Serve with your choice of chutney
